IV Sedation Dentistry in Parramatta

patient talking with dentistAt Cure Dental, our experienced, caring dental team is committed to ensuring you’re comfortable and at ease during your dental procedures. Offering IV sedation is just one of the ways we cater to our patients’ needs.

What Is It?

IV sedation is a type of sedation that does not put you completely to sleep. Sometimes called “twilight” sleep, it makes you less aware of the procedure and what your dentist is doing. You do not need help breathing, and you should still be able to respond to commands.

It’s delivered intravenously (through your vein).

The Benefits

IV sedation offers several benefits for patients, such as:

  • Takes effect quickly
  • Ensures your comfort during the procedure
  • The dosage is easily adjusted by the dentist

In addition, it provides a period of amnesia, so you won’t remember your dental procedure. This helps prevent reinforcing previous dental traumas and phobias.

Who It’s For

In our clinic, we may recommend this approach for patients undergoing wisdom teeth extractions or dental implants. We have a specialist from hospital who comes into our practice once a month to administer the sedation, and we will schedule your procedure accordingly if you choose to have sedation.

It’s particularly helpful for patients with dental phobias and those who are undergoing longer, more complex procedures.

Please note that people with certain pre-existing health conditions may not be able to receive IV sedation.

Catering to Your Needs

Based on our examination, your caring dentist will explain any problems with your teeth. They’ll outline their treatment recommendations and answer all of your questions to ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

As part of this process, they’ll discuss sedation options. If that is something you’re interested in, we’ll explain the process and get you scheduled for your procedure.
